Fitting out your van
Have you just arrived in Australia or have you been here for several months? Backpackers, students, it’s finally time to take off and go on a road trip!
You’re finally going to see a bit of the landscape, whether it’s the beaches, the desserts or the plains, there’s so much to discover!
For this you’ll need a 4*4 or a van. This is the least easy part. But we want to give you a hand to make it happen. To sleep and live in it, it’s more practical if it’s fitted out and you can do that yourself. It’s not as complicated as you might think (or almost).
When you start looking, you often realise that it’s complicated because there are so many different materials, systems and products that you get lost, especially if you don’t know much about them.
That’s why we’ve decided to write this article, in which we’ll tell you which products to choose according to your budget, with several options for each budget!

For a budget of $1,000
If you have a small budget to fit out your vehicle and you’re afraid you won’t be able to, don’t panic! Every problem has a solution!
My advice is to buy simple items that don’t cost too much, such as
– cans of water for showering and washing up,
– LED lights
– a small stove
– it’s the electrical system that’s going to cost the most but it’s very important and it’s very important that it’s well done
– For your sink, you can use a basin, which will do very nicely!
For a budget of $2,000 and $3,000
If you have a bigger budget, you’ll be able to move up the product range very quickly and have more choice. But unfortunately, the price of certain items also rises very quickly.
I’d advise you to prioritise your electrical system and your fridge, because there’s nothing worse than running out of battery in the middle of dessert without any food, yes yes more electricity equals more fridge and more fridge equals more food so be careful with your electrical system and prioritise it!
A word of advice: don’t forget to put in an air vent, it can get really hot and you’ll thank me for making you think about it!
For a budget of $4,000 and $5,000
You’ve got a big budget! Too cool, you’re going to be able to treat yourself and have a perfectly equipped and functional van for your road trips.
Now it’s up to you to choose the one you like best from all these items, but as far as the battery is concerned, I’d recommend the ecoflow, it recharges when you’re driving and once you’ve stopped you can plug it into the solar panel with incredible ease, no problem with a power cut.
